Of Home,College and Memories

Few places in the world look as lovely as chennai does during rains....

So here i am back home after a few terribly exciting weeks..trying to juggle my time between VH1,Kaapi and some math when im bored of everything else...

My first term finally ended on sep 30th with motherjane doing a cover of floyd's time(guess who asked for it) at harmony...brilliant end to an otherwise boring term...

managed to steal two days to make a long due trip to bombay or rather xaviers to be more precise on oct 1 on my way back from delhi...

high pointsof the trip?....staying in hostel again....lukkhagiri in foyer..listening to kadiri at img..giving sermons on parliamentary debating...lunch at D'SM(doctors mess for the uninitiated) with menon and abu..bus stand routine with mayur..booze at gokul with arjun and sudarsan discussing err well the "philosophy of science" (considering that i was half drunk, conversation wasnt even half as impressive as i make it sound)... and the kaapi at cafe madras with.....!!!

How i wish my hostel friends were there too

But i guess...life goes on...but why?

Menon,
You've said it da.

"with people you're really comfortable with and who don't give a damn if you come back drunk at odd hours of the night (as long as you can keep them entertained with embarrasing confessions) is something else all together. "

I wonder who?

my god..the nostalgia and sentiness is flying thick and fast!
but as a hostelite, must say that hostel adds something new to a college experience. staying in a new city can be frightening at first, but staying 24/7 with people you're really comfortable with and who don't give a damn if you come back drunk at odd hours of the night (as long as you can keep them entertained with embarrasing confessions) is something else all together. Hostel teaches you responsibility and irresponsibility at the same time, and isn't that what college life should be about?
rammstein...bleaagh!
instead watch barcelona play football..absolutely brilliant!

I agree with kausha that for hostelites we have a reason to be senti...especially when the little family of your's is scattered across the country(and globe)..
South bombay to North Delhi is'nt a gr8 transition either...
Sagar im sure has a reason to like the college...and has a right to be senti abt it too...(tho the reasons maybe diff from that of a hostelite)..
havent tried rammstein but will soon do..

what I said has nothing to do with my being a day scholar irrespective of how serious I am, what Im saying is real.

@Arjun

I know we do tend to get senti and all. but being part of the hostel added a dimension that most day scholars probably cannot fathom or claim to have enjoyed.

It is irrational to disdain sentistuff, it isnt worth anything but supression does no good, there is no such thing as "uncool senti"

While I have reason to be fed up with the place(6 years). You guys also should stop all the senti stuff. most hilarious was slightly tipsy prathamesh going on about xaviers to sudarshan who cant even remember how the place looked.

no slow classic rock today only heavy metal...maybe rammstein! it'll change your world view

try it!

Yes Kausha...I am referring to those times in hostel and college...tho both college and hostel could be too broad for terms to include only those who mattered to me..
awaiting the new years...

Perchance you're referring to hostel? I too can never stop thinking about it. One glorious chapter closed and trudging on rather reluctantly to the next chapter. But we have to move on, you know. we can reminisce during New Years.
